NIMBLE Project is participating in ICT 2018: Imagine Digital – Connect Europe. The research and innovation event, which will take place in Vienna on 4-6 December 2018, is an opportunity to focus on the European Union’s priorities in the digital transformation of society and industry.
The event has been organised since 1998 by the European Commission and has become Europe’s most visible international forum for ICT innovation and a unique gathering of the entire ICT research and innovation community, bringing together sector experts from across the continent to share their knowledge and vision of Europe in the Digital Age.
The ICT features four different components:
- a conference on digital research and innovation policies,
- an exhibition of EU-funded research and innovation projects in the field of ICT,
- a series of networking activities,
- an innovation and startups village to showcase European entrepreneurship.
NIMBLE will be present at the exhibition of EU-funded research and innovation projects in the area dedicated to “Transforming Industry & Economy”, stand T20.
Representatives of the project will be available throughout the three-day event to illustrate the benefits and functionalities of the platform and to encourage manufacturers attending the gathering to register and become early adopters.
Violeta Damjanovic-Behrendt from NIMBLE is also organizing a Networking session entitled “Federated Smart Factory Ecosystems”, which will be held in Room L4 on December 5 between 5.30pm and 6.15pm.
The session’s objective is to encourage the creation of collaborations between players of the manufacturing sector in Europe and the founder of digital manufacturing platforms in order to deliver disruptive innovations to industry, offering highly flexible and agile business models.
The session will introduce the conceptual federation of 4 platforms currently being developed in the EC: NIMBLE, COMPOSITION, DIGICOR and vf-OS Factories of the Future projects and the ConnectedFactory CSA project. It will highlight how the overlapping and complementary aspects of the 4 platforms can be interlinked through an open and interoperable federation layer. The brief introduction will open the floor for discussions on the overarching factors that hinder the innovative synergy of existing platforms, such as management of IPR, suitable business models, data management, security and privacy, knowledge exchange and reuse, standards, regulatory implications and policy development.
